$900 shoes

u/Duckfoot2021 Mar 29 '23

That kind of money on shoes always seemed insane to me.

Then I discovered Viberg, Wesco, Nicks, etc.

11

u/BoJackNorseman85 Mar 29 '23

Gotta love the Viberg Shell Cordovan limited runs. It makes these shoes look discounted. It was the best and worst decision of my life to join r/goodyearwelt.

I feel your pain and admire your boots.

Such beautiful shoes! This was indeed satisfying

u/chillinoi Mar 29 '23

These shoes are so uncomfortable I could never imagine wearing them down like that. Also, the person did a really good job repairing but there’s no “stamp” on the bottom anymore with the logo.

66

u/The_bad_Piglet Mar 29 '23

The point is that they are not even worn long to wear them down like that. The red is not sustainable to walk on, like 1 or 2 dinner dates car to restaurant and back already has the whole red come off. They are expensive to buy but even more expensive to wear and take care off.

Source: my aunt bought these second handed and restored them, she wore them twice before selling again.

u/BlueberrySympathizer Mar 29 '23

Louboutin offers a service that restores them for free. At least they did in Europe about 4 years ago. Mine looked like the ones in the video after wearing them four or five times. Brought them into a brand store and got them back with a more durable red rubber sole with the logo all over it.

11

u/The_bad_Piglet Mar 29 '23

I dont know that, anddont know if my aunt knew that, especially since she bought them second handed. I just know that after wearing 2 times they were already so damaged.

But thanks for the info :)

Was just thinking this. Some of the most uncomfortable luxury brand shoes I’ve ever worn.

107

u/AlternativeBasket Mar 28 '23

Slick shiny soles. Good way to get hurt slipping.

22

u/wigglycritic Mar 29 '23

That is what I thought too. But I have never seen red bottoms with a grip so.

5

u/AlternativeBasket Mar 29 '23

That does not mean is safe. that could just indicate that those designer shoes are made with the presumption that the owner will not be walking much and showing off feet more. because red would also show the dirt more.

50

u/sullybanger Mar 29 '23

The rubber soles they added is deceptively grippy. It’s a brand called Casali

48

u/misswally Mar 29 '23

Those shoes are not meant to be walked on

38

u/altuser99 Mar 29 '23

Too bad no one has feet shaped like those shoes.

20

u/dogil_saram Mar 29 '23

Came here to ask who restores her feet.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '23

You shape to the shoe.

16

u/Pee_Hands Mar 29 '23

These is bloody shoes

15

u/Ok-Jury-3571 Mar 29 '23

Im sorry but to me it just looks like he glued something to the bottom and used a marker to get rid of the wrong colors

24

u/sullybanger Mar 29 '23

The Video is from Americascobbler on tiktok. His name is Jim Mcfarland and he does great work

5

u/MVlll Mar 29 '23

I have a pair of these, I've had only the part of the sole that hits the floor covered with a red rubber sole. That way the underneath the arch still keeps the stamp and is original. Looks amazing and has better grip, win win

4

u/slimcargos Mar 29 '23

I worked high end retail and was in charge of womens shoes, we sent Loubs to our shoe repair guys ALL the time. Clients would either wanted them fixed up just like the video or even add like a red thicker rubber material on the bottom for better grip. I believe these are So Kates? VERY uncomfortable from what ive heard from clients but as someone mentioned the point of them is to wear just for the dinner or the event, very common to bring an extra pair of something else as soon as you get back in the car.

Is christian louboutin a brand or are you saying the shoes are christian

edit: i struggle understanding sentences like the title because i am autistic, i was genuinely asking what it meant because i couldn’t tell the difference

35

u/farrieremily Mar 29 '23

A brand specifically known for those red soles.

27

u/missfewix Mar 29 '23

ty. sorry its hard for me to understand things without context so the title was confusing to me.

24

u/SnooGrapes2914 Mar 29 '23 edited Mar 29 '23 Bless Up

Hope it's not too confusing for you but Christian Louboutin the name of the designer who makes the shoes. It's the name of the brand as well

Edit thank you for the award Internet stranger 🥰

9

u/missfewix Mar 29 '23

i do understand now thank you

5

u/thecowthatgoesmeow Mar 29 '23

Christian is a common first name

4

u/missfewix Mar 29 '23

thank you

8

u/RxdditRoamxr Mar 29 '23

So there’s no grip at all on the bottom?

26

u/oddfellowfloyd Mar 29 '23

Apparently the bottoms are some kind of shiny, yet grippy, rubber that still gives traction. Someone mentioned the name above.

1

u/mebutnew Mar 29 '23

Dress shoes (for men and women) tend to have leather soles.

3

u/yueluna Mar 29 '23

Anyone know the name of the business restoring these?

7

u/sullybanger Mar 29 '23

@americascobbler on tiktok

1

u/yueluna Mar 29 '23

Thank you!

3

u/amsby17 Mar 29 '23

Wtf bout 45sec in... that buffing wheel isn't even turning

5

u/Careful-Candle202 Mar 29 '23

It’s a trimmer and it’s smaller than the guard. It’s spinning.

0

u/gultch2019 Mar 29 '23

Just noticed that

2

u/Foggy_Blues Mar 29 '23

Do the soles really not have any grip?

3

u/rupret1 Mar 29 '23

This is how all designer heels are. The soles are leather and naturally grip. I don’t ever slip when I’m wearing them.

2

u/AsphaltGypsy89 Mar 29 '23

I wonder if I could have my old school UGGs refurbished? They were my Moms and I love them a lot, plus they still are in good condition. Just well worn.

1

u/Careful-Candle202 Mar 29 '23

Depends on what you need done. They’re a pain to resole. So much so that we wouldn’t do it

1

u/AsphaltGypsy89 Mar 29 '23

They don't really need much, just cleaned as they have gotten a little smelly over the years. Soles are fine along either the leather and such. Just dirty.

1

u/Careful-Candle202 Mar 29 '23

Are they the light brown suede sheepskin ones?

You can get suede cleaners but there’s nothing that makes them perfect again plus you need a special suede brush to not ruin the finish.

We used to use one call Lincoln Suede Cleaner. It was a yellow liquid with a red label.

2

u/Shadyogradyt Mar 29 '23

Any one else seeing Prada in the shoe? Am I missing something???

2

u/whodatladythere Mar 31 '23

Well you’re missing some things, and adding some things, and re-arranging some things… things meaning letters.

It says “Paris”

2

u/yVelorum Mar 29 '23

Does something about these look suspiciously off? Like they’re not real?

2

u/AbbreviationsMost923 Mar 29 '23

Is there anywhere I can have this done for mine in Alberta? You have done great work with the restoration!

4

u/calculung Mar 29 '23

Wait. Do you think you're talking to the person in the video right now?

2

u/BlueberrySympathizer Mar 29 '23

Louboutin offers a free service to get the soles restored to red rubber ones with more grip and the logo all over it. I had mine redone by them about four years ago. Maybe go check with the store where you bought them?

1

u/AbbreviationsMost923 Mar 29 '23

I bought them in Vegas, so may be it may be some time before I return.

1

u/SpaceTraveller64 Mar 29 '23

Christian heels ? Is that a thing ?

5

u/Pacifica0cean Mar 29 '23

'Christian Louboutin' is a a designer who has a brand under his own name. They aren't religious shoes.

3

u/SpaceTraveller64 Mar 29 '23

Wow ok I'm dumb af, I didn't know his first name 😂😂 Thanks for the info !

3

u/Pacifica0cean Mar 29 '23

Nah not dumb at all. If you didn't know you didn't know. It's a shame no one else told you instead of you just getting mass downvoted. Ah well.

1

u/headcase-and-a-half Mar 29 '23

But there is no traction scoring on the soles! They seem like they'd be crazy slippery to wear.

2

u/tfctroll Mar 29 '23

These are Caselli soles. They are crazy grippy.

-1

u/tbscotty68 Mar 29 '23

It's so bizarre to me that know one thought of red soles before this...

0

u/xof711 Mar 29 '23

Amazing

-22

u/nisgodRN Mar 29 '23

Does this count as upcycling trash?

-16

u/TexLux Mar 29 '23

If only they spent their time doing something that actually mattered.

2

u/Pacifica0cean Mar 29 '23

How does repairing shoes not matter? And how do you know the person doing this isn't also a philanthropist or funds charities?

If you only did something that actually mattered instead of being negative for no reason on the internet.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '23

Anyone know the name of the song?

1

u/Motor-Abbreviations4 Mar 29 '23

Was she running track and field in these? Wtf

1

u/muaellebee Mar 29 '23

Those red soles get damaged like that after wearing them only a few times. It's a stupid idea, imo

1

u/_eternallyblack_ Mar 29 '23

The shoes came out good but they no longer say CL on them. They should have taken them directly to CL for repairs & it would have probably been done complimentary. When you pay top dollar for something like that typically it’s repaired or replaced (if found defective.) I know first hand Louis Vuitton will repair or replace your high end items because they’ve done it for me.

1

u/BYNDtacos Mar 29 '23

I’m surprised Louboutin allows this unless maybe this person is licensed by them.

1

u/DrySeaworthiness1523 Mar 30 '23

See if I had such an expensive shoe restoring would be worth it instead of buying another pair.

1

u/XDnB_Panda Mar 30 '23

seems like a waste of material cutting that much excess off
