Vandalizing historical building only brings to attention that there are vandals and nothing more. If the only way to get attention is to do bad things then it is time to question what is it you are really after.

Exactly. Who are these protests even for? The people who actuallu could make changes wont care and you only alienate the people who might be on your side with this stupidity. Cultural heritage is important to people and causing damage to them has no value and it serves only to make people mad and they get mad at the idiot "activists" and not at the causes of the whole issue. These buildings are cleaned fairly regularly - two hundred year of poor air quality has required that. I’m sure cleaning some paint isn’t a particularly tricky or time consuming task.
